There is no decline in the cargo container business after implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) from 1st July, 2017, Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain informed the Lok sabha on July 18th.
In a written answer given in the house the Minister said the container loading has gone up 6.71 million tonnes since the introduction of the goods and service tax. The loading of cargo which was 47.60 million tonnes during 2016-17 had gone up to 54.31 million tonnes during the last financial year 2017-18.
The loading of containers have gone up 5.30 million tonnes ever since the GST was introduced in July last year till the end of the last financial year compared to the corresponding period previous year.
