Chennai Port creates new record in handling Steel Cargo

CHENNAI : Chennai Port, also known as Gateway Port of East Coast, has created a record in handling 9,340 Tonnes of Steel Cargo (Steel Plates) from the vessel M V DANCEWOOD SW on Jan 17 berthed at JD- VI.

According to the port authorities, it is an all time record tonnage handled, surpassing the previous record of 7,196 tonnes handled by the vessel MV STARACE on Aug 28, 2005 berthed at East Quay. J.M. Baxi, have been the Stevedores for the vessels.

Commenting on the record, the Chairman and Deputy Chairman, Chennai Port Trust expressed their thanks to all the employees, Port Users and trading community for their contribution in achieving the record handling.
