Brazilian imports of coke in June more than doubled from the year-ago month to 132,236 mt, Ministry of Trade and Industry data showed.

The value of the imports increased sixfold to $35.85 million, the data showed.

Colombia supplied 58% of Brazil’s coke imports in June at 76,746 mt at a total value of $21.74 million, as the average price reached $283.33/mt, according to ministry data.

Australia was the second-largest supplier in June at 54,930 mt, with imports valued at $13.88 million, at an average price of $252.76/mt.

Sepetiba port in Rio de Janeiro state handled 99.4% of the imports last month. Steelmakers CSN and CSA and mining company Vale each operate a private terminal at the state-owned port.

The ministry reported the import values on an FOB-at-origin basis, excluding freight.
