In the first four months of the current year, Vietnam was the second-largest market for Brazil's cotton (code 5201) exports, only behind Bangladesh. Brazil shipped cotton worth $117.003 million between January and April of 2023, accounting for 20.47 percent of all of its exports, which totalled $571.658 million during that time. Brazil sent Vietnam 61.693 million kg of cotton in terms of weight.
Although Brazil does import clothing from Vietnam, its contribution to overall imports is still insignificant. The shipping volume was, however, less than half of Brazil's cotton exports from January to April 2022, which totalled $268.486 million. In January-April 2021, $252.048 million in shipments were made; in January-April 2020, $176.878 million; and in January-April 2019, $68.980 million.
Exports in prior years were estimated as $546.795 million (269.463 million kg) in 2022, $570.426 million (339.613 million kg) in 2021, $518.792 million (339.240 million kg) in 2020, and $355.604 million (217.165 million kg) in 2019 according to

Brazil, a major cotton producer, imports clothing from nations like Vietnam and exports the natural fibre to its trading partners. Brazil imported clothing worth $34.592 million in the first four months of this year. The value of the incoming shipments was $83.021 million in 2022, $58.886 million in 2021, $57.614 million in 2020, and $77.875 million in 2019.
However, Vietnam only accounts for a minor portion of Brazil's overall garment imports. In the first four months of this year, Brazil imported clothes worth $788.547 million, with imports from Vietnam accounting for just 4.39 percent of the total. The third-largest market for Brazilian imports was Vietnam. Brazil is extremely dependent on China for its garment imports, which make up a staggering 57.81 percent of the country's total imports.
