LUCKNOW: The latest data with the Federation of India Exports Organization (FIEO) shows that Uttar Pradesh’s exports have gone up by Rs 10,000 crore in the past year.
Noida, which is among the most industrialized areas in the state, has topped as the district with most exports at Rs 74,000 crore.
FIEO says that the government’s subsidies to counter the high costs of transportation in view of UP’s landlocked status and push to the one district-one product scheme, have helped in taking the exports up.
According to the
export import data, UP exported a total of Rs 1.57 lakh crore in 2021–2022 and Rs 1.59 lakh crore from April 2022 to February 2023. According to sources, with data starting in March 2023, it was anticipated to reach close to Rs 1.67 lakh crore.
The potential for improvement in UP is still enormous when compared to other states. Gujarat has the highest exports of any state in 2021–2022 ($9.46 trillion), followed by Maharashtra ($5.45 trillion). UP is third on the list after Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
The USA, UAE, Germany, the UK, Nepal, France, Spain, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and Bangladesh are among the top export destinations for UP.
Telecom equipment, buffalo meat, RMG Cotton, including accessories, RMG manmade fibre, leather footwear, saddlery, and harness, aluminium and aluminium products, silk and handmade carpets, machinery and engineering goods, wheat, rice, sugar, iron and steel, handicrafts, etc. are among the products that are boosting the state's exports.
According to the FIEO evaluation, the state government's export promotion initiatives have been the primary drivers of UP's growth. Additionally, financial aid is being provided for transit, which lowers the price of exports from the landlocked state of UP. Subsidies on airborne export cargo and goods are included.
