UAE remains the top country for exports through Cochin Port

According to information provided by The Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has continued to be the top export destination through Cochin Port.

With a total export of 7.17 lakh tonnes, slightly less than the 7.25 lakh tonnes exported during the same period in 2022, food goods and coir/coir products were the two main exports during the first half of the year.

Based on export import data, almost 40% of all exports went to the UAE, USA, and China, which were the top three export destinations.

Between the first and second quarters of the year, the export trend remained the same. More than 50% of the exports were made up of coir and coir products, food, marine, spices, and cotton items, however the other three categories recorded a minor decline.

Although the quantities varied, the top five imported goods over the time period were chemicals, metals & minerals, cement, paper, and wood products.
