Gopalpur Port achieves highest ever record in cargo loading

The highest-ever iron ore lumps cargo loading at Gopalpur Port in Odisha's Ganjam district was 59,150 metric tonnes on the vessel MV Reachy Spring nominated by JSW Steel during the course of two days on July 13 and 14.

According to a statement from the port, the port run by the Shapoorji Pallonji Group also established a record on July 15 when it loaded 86,700 MT of iron ore lumps onto the vessel in 40 hours at an average rate of 2,167 MT per hour.

Gopalpur Port received a Certificate of Appreciation from the vessel's master for this achievement, officials said here on Monday. According to him, the port recently released more than 32,000 MT of coal cargo from the vessel MV New Prestige in a 24-hour period.

This record-breaking performance in marine operations, which the port is capable of handling more than 20 rakes per day, strengthens its position as a dependable and competitive maritime gateway. According to Rao, Gopalpur is set to become east India's next mega port.

Since 2017, Gopalpur Port has been managed by the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, and it has the necessary marine infrastructure to handle large vessels with a deep-draft of up to 14.5 metres.

Additionally, the port offers closed and open storage space for 2.5 MT of cargo. Eight functional rail yard sidings are available at the Gopalpur port for the quick and easy handling of various cargoes.
