The World Shipping Council (WSC) is pleased to announce that Tim Wickmann is joining WSC as its new Managing Director, Asia.

Mr. Wickmann served most recently as CEO of MCC Transport and has worked in various leadership positions in international liner shipping for the last three decades.

“The liner shipping industry is a global network and therefore needs consistent regulatory treatment across the globe. That requires the industry to have a coordinated voice on regulatory matters. Tim Wickmann has extensive experience operating throughout Asia and we are glad to welcome him to the WSC staff as he takes the lead role for us in Asia. He will develop the partnerships that we hope to build with local and regional shipping associations and establish relationships with Governments and other interested stakeholders,” said John Butler, World Shipping Council President & CEO. Ron Widdows, Chairman of the World Shipping Council added: “Tim has 27 years of experience in container shipping where he served in various roles in four Countries (Denmark, Argentina, South Korea and Singapore). From 2008 to 2017 he was the CEO of MCC Transport, the Intra Asian arm of Maersk Line (now called Sealand), and therefore brings operational expertise and in-depth knowledge of shipping related issues in the various Countries in the Asian region.”
