MUMBAI, JULY 18: The rupee firmed up by three paise to 64.32 against the dollar on increased selling of the American currency by exporters and banks amid higher inflow of foreign funds.
Forex dealers said besides sustained selling of the greenback by banks and exporters, the dollar’s weakness against some currencies overseas as two more Republican senators rejected the Bill to repeal Obamacare, supported the rupee.
Yesterday, the local currency had ended at a fresh one-month high by gaining 10 paise to 64.35 on bouts of dollar unwinding by exporters.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex was down 299.24 points or 0.93 per cent at 31,775.54 in early trade.
