The Indian Seafarers Welfare Organization has opened a New Seafarers Welfare Centre at Dr. Ambedkar Docks, Chennai Port Trust on 27th October 2017. The inauguration of the new Seafarers’ Centre was done by unveiling of the plaque followed by cutting of the ribbon by Shri. K.PANDIARAJAN Hon’ble Minister for Tamil official language &Tamil Culture Government of Tamilnadu, India.

Capt. P.T Sadanandan, Dy. Conservator, Chennai Port Trust and Capt. S.K Das, Dy. Nautical Advisor, MMD, Chennai. Shared their sailing experiences and Capt. Shailesh L. Karmarkar , BDM, RINA India Pvt Ltd said that the seafarers welfare centers around the world are playing very important for the spiritual and physical wellbeing of sailors.

 

Shri. B. Vimal, Traffic Manager, Chennai Port Trust, Shri. N. Reuben Paul, Director – Centre for Seafarers Welfare, Smt.Oviyam Ranjan, President of Anthony Pillai Trade Union, Shri. M.A Soosai Chairman, Maharashtra Education welfare Trust, Mumbai. and distinguished guests expressed their happiness for the efforts of Shri. Babu Mailan Chairman of the ISWOT.

 

Shri. Babu Mailan, Chairman of Indian Seafarers Welfare Organization explained about the organization and its welfare activities in India. He added that ships turnaround in port is very quick so the Indian Seafarers Welfare Organization has identified suitable rooms in all Indian ports Dock Areas to provide better quality welfare services for seafarers. He said that Free Internet WiFi facility and Sea Mission Mobile App services are very useful to the seafarers visiting Indian Ports.

 

The Honourable Minister of Tamil Language & Tamil Culture Shri. K.PANDIARAJAN, Capt. S.K Das, Dy. Nautical Advisor, MMD, Government of India, Capt. P.T Sadanandan, Dy. Conservator, Chennai Port Trust and other distinguished Guests have dedicated the Free WiFi facility and Sea Mission Mobile App Services to the seafarers visiting Indian Ports. Shri. J.I Easter Raj Vice-Chairman, ISWOT said Indian Seafarers Welfare Organization members will start the dedicated Free Wifi and Sea Mission Mobile App Services in all Indian ports.
