MUMBAI: Ministry of Shipping has given its consent to support Mumbai and Nhava-Sheva Ship Agents Association’s initiative for holding conference on `Implication of GST on Maritime Sector to be held in Mumbai on May 31.

In a letter addressed to MANSA, Deputy Secretary at Ministry of Shipping, Jyoti Kumar Bubana said, “This Ministry is willing to extend non-financial support for holding the conference.”

Welcoming the endorsement from the Shipping Ministry, MANSA President, Capt Vivek Anand said, “The non-financial support by the Ministry has encouraged us at MANSA to continue with our journey towards empowering and enlightening the trade fraternity in our common endeavour with the Indian Government towards nation building.”

MANSA intends to get policy makers, knowledge partners and legal experts to demystify the GST legislation and enlighten the members for a smooth transition ahead, Capt Anand said. 

Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys will be the legal partner while Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP will be the knowledge partner for the conference. 

MANSA has also sought the support of Ministry of Shipping for the conference.
