  • Kazakhstan lifts prohibition on Chinese citrus import

Xu Jun, department chief of the Urumqi Customs and Quarantine Inspection Office, announced on April 28th that Kazakhstan had lifted the prohibition on the import of citrus fruit, nuts, and dried fruit from China. The trade in fruit between Kazakhstan and China now operates as usual.

The largest port in Xinjiang, in terms of Chinese agricultural export to Kazakhstan, is Khorgas. The majority of agricultural export consists of fruit and vegetables. Khorgas exported 19.6 thousand tons of fruit and vegetables in the first quarter of this year, which is 59.21% of the total export of fruits and vegetables that came through Xinjiang in the first quarter of this year. Most of the fruit and vegetable export through Xinjiang consists of top-quality citrus fruit, apples, peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes from Shaanxi, Guangxi, Gansu, as well as Xinjiang itself. The products pass through Xinjiang on their way to various countries in Central Asia.
