BENGALURU: “Despite a decline in exports in the country, Karnataka has managed to increase its exports by 1.27 per cent this year with 18.5 per cent of national share,” said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah
Speaking at ‘state export excellence awards 2014-15’ organised by the Department of Industries and Commerce here on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah said, “There used to be criticism against our government for not facilitating industrial growth in the state. But the number of industries that are able to export goods show that Karnataka is one of those pioneers in industrialization.”
The only concern of the government is not to encourage unethical competition when it comes to industrialization, he said. But today, Karnataka has stood number one in exports of software, with a share of 36.5 per cent in the country’s export in 2015-16. The state stands fourth in the country’s merchandise exports with 7.31 per cent contribution during 2015-16. Karnataka has exported worth $79,429 million, which constituted 18 per cent of national exports, he said.
“In order to develop better infrastructure in Bengaluru, a meeting with Vision group was held where entrepreneurs gave suggestions. We are looking forward to increase opportunities for business in Karnataka. The new Industrial policy was also acknowledged by the businessmen across the globe during ‘Invest Karnataka’, a global investors meet,” he said.
