NEW DELHI: The Indian Ports and Shipping Industry plays a vital role in sustaining growth in the Country’s trade and commerce. The State & Central Governments have undertaken various initiatives to strengthen the Port Sector. The Make in India Campaign and Sagarmala Project have given special emphasis for economic development around the ports.
The ambitious projects in the recent years envisages a port-led economy through infrastructure development in ports and integration of ports with Special Economic Zones, Port based Smart Cities, Industrial Parks, Warehouses, Logistics Parks and Transport Corridors. Two of the five industrial corridors are planned in a way to connect the ports in the South adding to the naturally endowed port advantage of the South. The Private and Public ports are working collaboratively towards offering a strategic advantage for the industries.
In this context, Confederation of Indian Industry (Southern Region) is organizing CII South India Port Conclave 2017 with the theme “Port Led Economic Development” during 23 - 24 June 2017 at Chennai (Hotel Taj Coromandel).
The conference will facilitate as a strong platform for stakeholders to discuss the opportunities and challenges in the port sector and thereby supporting industrial and economic growth.
