Chinese companies are visiting Cairo next week to investigate the potential for a wider range of agricultural imports from Egypt

Next week, ten Chinese firms are set to visit the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to discuss the possibility of importing a wider range of Egyptian agricultural products, in addition to main items oranges and grapes, according to a report from the Middle East Observer.

Mostafa Al Nagary, a member of the Agricultural Export Council, revealed that a Chinese delegation would participate at the “Egypt is the Silk Road Gateway” conference in collaboration with the China Federation of Industrial Economics (CFIE).

The Egyptian Businessmen’s Association (EBA) revealed that Cairo would host the first round of the Belt and Road Industrial and Commercial conference. China’s Belt and Road Initiative is a long-term plan designed to boost economic, trade, cultural and people-to-people ties between the Chinese Mainland and over 65 countries from Asia to Europe.

Located at the intersection of three continents, Egypt is ideally positioned to become the capital of the new Silk Road, with the new maritime Silk Road placing Egypt and the Suez Canal at its heart. ?

The Cairo conference will be a networking platform connecting project owners and operators, investors and service providers from related business sectors, helping participants to create new connections and to discuss the possibility of future collaboration with potential partners.
