About 17 tankers carrying fuel imports requested by Venezuela have arrived at PDVSA’s ports in recent days, creating a backlog of cargoes to discharge, according to Thomson Reuters vessel tracking data.
The cargoes with July deliveries join seven tankers that have been waiting for up to 60 days for payments from PDVSA, including shipments of crude, gasoline blend stock, vacuum gasoil, cutter stock and liquefied petroleum gas.
The first of two U.S. crude cargoes sold by Britain’s BP , on tanker NS Champion, discharged earlier this month at PDVSA’s Bullenbay terminal in Curacao. A second, on tanker Tulip, is still waiting.
A fuel delivery on tanker Vallesina, also sold by BP and Venezuelan firm CT Energia, went back to the U.S. Gulf Coast without discharging after a 70-day wait, the data say.
