AHMEDABAD: Adani Hazira Port Pvt. Ltd. part of Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest port developer organized an Interactive Knowledge sharing session for major manufacturing and Export-Import entities from Aurangabad and the adjoining industrial belts on 14th December, 2016. Also, part of the session were representatives of major shipping lines, with the intent of providing updates on recent developments at Hazira Port and the potential Supply Chain and Cost benefits that using Hazira could deliver.
The event was flagged off by Mr. Paul Almeida – DGM, Container Terminal Sales, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd, who welcomed guests and thanked the attendees for gracing the event with their presence.
An Adani spokesperson explained the capabilities and infrastructure at the Port of Hazira and then explicated how it was strategically poised to augment trade between North Maharashtra and Central India, as well as the significant advantages proffered, in terms of Supply Chain optimisation, reliability and overall costs.
The floor was then thrown open for participants who shared their positive experiences with the port and sought clarifications on various aspects of the Port and its operations. Subsequent deliberations also focused on general and transport related issues afflicting trade and solutions to alleviate them.
The event concluded with participants expressing their appreciation at the initiative and conveying their satisfaction with the information shared.
The Port of Hazira, located in Surat, is one of India’s most industrialised cities and amongst the largest diamond and textile hubs in the world. The port, which is just 120 nautical miles North of Mumbai, is an ideal alternative to Nhava Sheva (JNPT). Offering 2 berths with a quay length of 650 metres, Hazira Port has a handling capacity of 1 million TEUs per annum and has world class infrastructure consisting of 6 Post Panamax Quay cranes and 16 e-RTG’s for fast and efficient yard operations.
