Mumbai : APM Terminals Mumbai also known as Gateway Terminals India (GTI) has introduced a new initiative for internal terminal transfers (ITT) of tractor trailers to streamline the supply chain process. The same is done in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT) involving ‘one way’ ITT movements from JNPCT to GTI.
With the introduction of the new process the tractor trailer can now offload the export unit at JNPCT and proceed directly to GTI for onward pick up of an import container. This will help in reducing ‘blank’ trailer trips enabling terminal’s customers to make optimum use of time and resources.
In the earlier process, to perform the same haulage the TTs had to first offload the export container at JNPCT, exit through their gates and then proceed to GTI’s Central Gate Complex.
Given the distance of 5.5 kms between the two terminal gates, the new process would prove beneficial to the Export Import Trade in achieving faster turnaround of cargo at lower costs.
GTI continuously strives to provide its Clients with best in class services and this is yet another step towards “Customer Delight”.
