PANJIM : After a gap of 18 months, Mormugao Port, Goa, has commenced Barge borne iron ore traffic at the Mechanical Ore Handling Plant (MOHP) once again on Nov 20.

According to the sources, M/s Royalline Resources Ltd., will be stacking about 50,000 MT of iron ore for shipment by the month-end.

The first three barges carrying iron ore for export through Mormugao Port have reported to the Receiving Section of the Port’s MOHP on Nov 20 and the unloading operations have already commenced. More barge borne iron ore traffic is expected to continue on a regular basis at the Port in future. The Port is also in all readiness to receive its first Cape size vessel M.V. TASIK MELATI with a consignment of bulk coal consigned to M/s. JSW. The Cape size vessel is expected to berth at the berth No. 6 on Nov 23.
