MUMBAI : The rupee opened a tad weak at 60.11 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today on increased demand for the American currency from importers and on the back of a weak opening in the domestic equity market.
Forex dealers said dollar’s strength against other currencies overseas also weighed on the rupee. The rupee had ended two paise higher at 60.10 against the American currency on Friday on dollar selling by exporters. Call rates, bond yields
The inter-bank call money rate, the rate at which banks borrow short-term funds from one another to tide over liquidity mismatches, opened higher at 8.95 per cent from Friday’s close of 8.40 per cent. Yield on the benchmark 8.83 per cent government bond maturing in 2023 opened flat at 8.67 per cent
